Conversation
English is most famous foreign language in Japan. But most Japanese understand
very few English ("Yes", "No", "OK", "Hello",
"Thank you", that's all). Most of us do not understand other
language. Please try to speak Japanese.
If you want to ask someone in English, you'd better to ask to young people (teens, 20s, or 30s).

Signs and Letters
There are three types of letters(characters) in Japanese. They are Hiragana,
Katakana, Kanji(Chinese character). So it may be hard for you to understand
Japanese letters. But don't worry, there are many note in western alphabet
in public signs (Road Signs, Signs in a station etc.).
